As you might know, BodiMojo is developing a behavioral health platform for pediatrics. One in five children suffers from a mental health challenge. The odds increase if they also have a physical condition. It’s our mission to find cool ways to help kids feel better about themselves. We want children and teens who are dealing with physical or mental health issues to feel more in control; to recognize that feeling bad, good, and everything in between is okay.
The newly-invented BodiMojo app features a virtual buddy who delivers a program of tailored health messages, from reminding kids to be kind to themselves to prompting them to be mindful of how they’re doing. For teens who experience stress or other health challenges, the BodiMojo virtual coach provides a confidential way to stay in tune with body and mind.
Pediatricians and other health professionals say one of the biggest challenges is having the time and resources to help young patients outside of office visits. Parents need more resources, too. In fact, a 2014 study of over 5 million children with a mental health condition found that 41% of parents reported not receiving adequate care coordination (Pediatrics, 2014). We need to do more.
The BodiMojo app is an awesome way to help reach teens – using the tools they use everyday – and teach them ways to deal with their heath issues. The BodiMojo platform helps pediatric clinics support children and adolescents learning to self-manage a physical or mental health condition.
