Thumbs up for BodiMojo

FavesIconsIt’s time for a BodiMojo update.  Ever since our very successful debut in early October at the Health 2.0 conference, we’ve been continuing the upward and outward momentum. The site is still closed during our field study so we’re just keeping you up-to-date before we launch sometime in 2010. See live demo from Health 2.0 (skip to minute 34).

Web site innovations:

• Community/friend modules on Web site: “Eat More Fruits and Veggies” “Unplug From TV” “Feel Good About How You Look” – our teen users can now join groups like these for support and motivation.

• Fun games: What’s a site for teens without games? We’ve just added three more games to our repertoire: Soccer Challenge, Snowboard Challenge, and Hot Shots (Basketball).

• Point system: Read an article on fitness? Get some points. Set a goal to exercise? Ditto. Kids love to earn points, and eventually, our BodiMojo store will allow them to cash them in for prizes or products.

• SMS messages via cell phone: “You’re doing great today!” Now users can send themselves Daily Mojo affirmations via SMS, by adding a cell phone number on their private profile page.

• Public profile: BodiMojo members can now see who other members are and view who’s online.
Field study:

• Field study moves forward: Kids from Health Careers Academy (HCA), a Boston Charter School, Arlington High School, Framingham High School have enjoyed participating in the BodiMojo study. At HCA, kids plan to use their wireless pedometers as they train for running groups and the marathon – an unexpected plus for them and us. They can see their progress in the BodiMojo My Page.

• Underway in Milton: Students have completed their initial assessments and have begun interacting with the BodiMojo Web site. The study will continue at Milton through early December.

• Parent feedback: Students’ parents have been completing surveys about healthy eating in their home, such as fruit and vegetable availability.

Upcoming:

• Videos: Be on the watch for creative video content, as we review a cadre of potential candidates for inclusion on the site. We’re always looking for teen contributors

• Articles: Editing is being done on stories in the queue written by our contributors and teens, to boost the content on the site.

Keep an eye on this space, as further developments occur. BodiMojo is on the move – but what else would you expect?
