With Valentine’s Day approaching it is apropos to draw attention to National Teen Dating Violence Awareness and Prevention Week, which runs February 2-6. We blogged about the topic before, and will continue to do so given that the rates of teen dating abuse are shockingly high.

The sobering facts:
- Approximately 1 in 3 adolescent girls report being physically, emotionally or verbally abused by a dating partner.
- Almost 60% of rape victims report being raped between the ages of 12-24.
- 81% of parents surveyed either believe teen dating violence is not an issue or admit they don’t know if it’s an issue.
